Ogun Govt, Lafarge Launch Free Training for Young Female Tilers

The Ogun State Government, in collaboration with Lafarge, has opened applications for the 2025 Female Tilers and Block-Laying Training Programme, an empowerment initiative aimed at equipping young women with practical construction skills.
According to a statement on Saturday by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, the free training will begin in September 2025 at the Women Development Centre, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, and will run for eight weeks.
Adeleye described the partnership with Lafarge as a transformative step in bridging gender gaps in non-traditional trades.
“Beyond skill acquisition, the programme also targets employment opportunities for participants, while fostering collaboration with other government MDAs in the built sector,” she said.
The Commissioner explained that the training is open exclusively to women aged 18–30 who are residents of Ogun State, with a minimum of SSCE qualification. Applications will run from August 27 to September 8, 2025, after which shortlisted candidates will be enrolled for the full-time programme.
She stressed that the initiative is not just about imparting skills but also about creating opportunities, strengthening women’s economic independence, and promoting an inclusive future for the state.

“This programme is not only about training; it is about creating doors of opportunity, strengthening women’s economic independence, and building a more inclusive future for our State. We are grateful to Lafarge for partnering with us to make this vision a reality,” Adeleye added.
The Ministry urged eligible young women to take advantage of the initiative while calling on community leaders, civil society groups, and stakeholders to help spread information about the programme. She further assured that the Ministry would intensify awareness campaigns across the state to mobilize qualified participants.
