Ogun Amotekun Graduates 553 New Operatives, Gov Abiodun Vows Unrelenting Support For Grassroots Security

The Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, on Friday graduated 553 operatives from its Batch ‘E’ training program. The well-attended passing-out ceremony held at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu, marked a renewed pledge by the state government to protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure across Ogun’s three senatorial districts.
Representing Governor Dapo Abiodun at the event, Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele applauded the Corps’ growing impact and reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe and prosperous Ogun. “Security remains one of the cornerstones of this administration,” she said. “His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is committed to building a secure environment where all citizens can thrive—economically, socially, and culturally. Today’s graduation is not just a ceremony but a testament to the vision of community-led safety.”
Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. A. I. Adedigba (rtd), who led the induction, announced that the new operatives would begin receiving salaries based on the newly approved national minimum wage, retroactive from their entry into the training camp. The Batch ‘E’ graduation comes just 183 days after the passing-out of 690 Batch ‘D’ operatives, signaling the administration’s accelerated efforts to strengthen its security manpower.
Since its inception, the Amotekun Corps in Ogun has witnessed a massive operational upgrade, courtesy of the Abiodun administration. Strategic investments have yielded additional patrol vehicles, uniforms, communication tools, and logistical support. The deployment of operatives to sensitive areas—including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ijebu-Ode-Ore axis, and the Sango-Ita-Oshin corridor—has led to increased visibility and a sharp decline in criminal activity along these major transport routes.

Technological advancements have also been integrated into the Corps’ operations. Surveillance cameras have been installed at key locations such as the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport, the Old Ogere Toll Gate, and Panseke Bridge in Abeokuta. These facilities are linked to a state-of-the-art control room at the Amotekun Headquarters, ensuring real-time monitoring and rapid response to incidents.
The agency’s expanding mandate now includes environmental and economic protection. Special Forest Rangers have been deployed to the J4/Ajebandele axis to curb illegal logging, mining, and other unauthorized activities threatening the state’s natural reserves. Meanwhile, preparations are in progress to enroll all operatives in the National Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) for comprehensive coverage in cases of work-related injuries.
While highlighting achievements such as renovated offices and continuous quarterly training programs, the Corps Commander also appealed to Governor Abiodun for further support. These include the provision of hazard and responsibility allowances, more operational tools, and expedited completion of the permanent State Headquarters.
With over 1,200 operatives trained within the last year alone, Ogun’s Amotekun Corps continues to emerge as a formidable force in safeguarding the state from traditional and emerging security threats.
