The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) officially kicked off its campaign for the upcoming local government elections in Sagamu, Ogun State, with a rallying call to voters for change, urging them to be resolute in defending their votes.

The campaign, which marked a significant moment in the buildup to the November 16th polls, saw the party’s leaders passionately appealing to Sagamu residents to embrace the PDP’s vision for a brighter future under new leadership.

Honourable (Dr.) Oyenuga Adeshola Jamiu Jasper, the PDP chairmanship candidate for Sagamu Local Government, delivered a stirring address, asserting that Sagamu deserves a government genuinely committed to the people’s welfare.

Hon. (Dr.) Jasper took a direct jab at the ruling APC, accusing it of disappointing the masses, “They cunningly hijacked power but have failed to deliver the promises they made to our people,” he stated, urging residents to “defend their votes” and demand accountability from leadership.

Speaking to a crowd of energized supporters, PDP’s Adeyinka Ashaye reinforced the call for strong voter participation. “If we are to win, we need each of you to come out en masse,” Ashaye urged.

In his own address, Deacon Dauda, the PDP Chairman for Sagamu, shared a blueprint for mobilizing grassroots support. He encouraged supporters to launch a door-to-door campaign, emphasizing the importance of reaching every household with the PDP’s “political gospel.”

“We need to preach our vision to every resident and convince them to come out, vote, and stay vigilant,” Dauda stated, promising that the party would prioritize the needs of Sagamu residents over politics if elected.

With the local government elections only weeks away, the PDP’s campaign kickoff in Sagamu reflects a surge of political engagement and rivalry. The contest is heating up in Sagamu, a region where youth activism and calls for transparent governance have been growing. The PDP hopes that Sagamu voters will turn the tide against the ruling APC, which it claims has failed to deliver on its promises.
