Ogbeni Odulate Inaugurates Sagamu Land Advisory Committee To Curb Encroachment And Restore Order

The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Odulate Jubril Olashile, on Wednesday morning officially inaugurated the Sagamu Local Government Land Advisory Committee. The initiative marks a critical move in the council’s renewed efforts to protect public property, resolve disputes, and restore sanity to land administration within the local government.
The newly inaugurated committee is chaired by Bashorun Adebayo Awosanya, alongside other carefully selected members renowned for their grassroots understanding and commitment to community service.
“We didn’t just pick names—we chose people who know Sagamu and are genuinely passionate about serving the people,” Ogbeni Odulate remarked during the inauguration ceremony.

The Committee’s core responsibilities include:
Conducting a thorough identification and documentation of all government-owned lands;
Reclaiming encroached lands from unauthorized individuals or groups;
Mediating and resolving land-related disputes in a fair and transparent manner.
Ogbeni Odulate emphasized that the task ahead is not an easy one, but a necessary effort in preserving the integrity of public assets for the benefit of current and future generations.
“I have charged the Committee to carry out their duties with honesty, transparency, and unwavering loyalty to the people of Sagamu. Their service is not just to the government, but to every resident whose future depends on proper land governance,” he stated.
The establishment of the Committee is expected to foster accountability, deter illegal land grabs, and create a clearer framework for managing land assets in Sagamu.
This move aligns with the local government’s broader agenda under the #IgbegaIjobaIbiIleSagamu campaign—aimed at driving grassroots development through good governance, accountability, and people-first policies.
