Odulate: A Knight In Shinning Armour

Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, born into the prominent family of Chief Samuel Olayiga Odulate and Alhaja Mujidat Abeni Odulate, both of blessed memory. AFO, as fondly called, has lived most of his life in Sagamu, where he started his early life. Though he was privileged to have spent some of his early life in Europe, America, and Asia, yet he prides over Sagamu not just as his home but also as mini heaven on earth.

Afolabi entered politics as a silent philanthropist, a kind-hearted giver, and a grassroot mobiliser. When he first expressed his interest to join the Council Chairmanship race in 2021, many people thought he was only out to add his official portrait hanged in the Council offices and add a touch government authority to his classy lifestyle.

Unknown to many, he already had his shoes buckled, and his sleeves rolled up to his elbow before making his intention known. He was never ignorant of the prevailing realities in the local government administration, and at every given opportunity towards the election, he would echo his readiness to work outside the dots.

Rather than swimming in the ocean of excuses and trading in deafening blames, AFO hit the ground running. He motivated, equipped, and gave necessary support to all the departments of the Council. He brought the CDC/CDA into the business of governance, and that singular move re-established the presence of Sagamu local government at our border towns and rural communities.

Sagamu local government under AFO’s first term in office witnessed many unprecedented Public Private Partnerships. Many private investors were brought into the business of governance through his Buld Operate and Transfer(BOT) policy. Modern markets, shopping malls, car parks, etc, were among the projects executed via this BOT policy.

Ogbeni Odulate, in his first term in office, touched almost every critical area in Sagamu, ranging from health, education, roads, security, commerce, etc. The evidence of his achievements speaks louder than words. The transformation that Sagamu witnessed under his leadership is undeniable.

To continue this momentum and ensure that our community thrives even more, it is imperative to rally behind Ogbeni Odulate for a second term as Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government.
