North-Central APC Declares Support For Tinubu’s 2027 Reelection Bid Amid Opposition From Northern Groups
The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election. This announcement followed a meeting in Abuja, with the Forum emphasizing Tinubu’s positive impact on the region since taking office in 2023.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the Forum highlighted significant achievements under Tinubu’s leadership, including improved infrastructure, strategic appointments, and enhanced security, declaring the region has never experienced such progress under previous administrations.
This endorsement comes amidst criticism from other northern groups. The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and its youth counterpart, the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), have openly opposed Tinubu’s reelection. According to a communique signed by ACF spokesperson Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the group has pledged support for a northern candidate in 2027.

Similarly, the AYCF, led by Alhaji Shettima Yerima, expressed dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s performance, warning that unless significant changes are made to tackle the nation’s socio-economic challenges, northern voters may reject his bid for a second term.
This split among northern stakeholders signals shifting political alignments as the race for 2027 begins to take shape.
