Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has called on members of the state’s People’s Democratic Party to unite following Wednesday’s Supreme Court ruling.

In a statement on Wednesday, the governor said the Supreme Court ruling had finally ended the protracted legal battle over the candidates who would fly the PDP flag in Edo state in general elections on February 25 and March 11. , 2023.

He added: “As the leader of the party in the state, I implore all members to consider this development as the end of all struggles within the Edo PDP and to note that this is a victory for all members. Our decision now is to win the upcoming General Election as this experience has made us stronger and more prepared to win.

“This disagreement, which has now been resolved amicably, testifies to the maturity of actors who, as law-abiding party members, have submitted to and accepted the verdict of the courts.

“Since there are no victors or vanquished in this matter, I would like to call on all members of our party to come together and speak with one voice against the real opponents, as our party is big enough to represent our different interests.

“The ongoing crisis in our country, choreographed by the All Progressives Congress, subjects Nigerians to perhaps the most arduous living conditions in our history since the civil war between 1967 and 1970. Our efforts must now be focused on removing the APC from the power and restoration of our blessed land.

“I therefore call on all our members in Edo State to stand up and be counted among the brave party men and women who wished to be counted in carrying out this all-important task to rescue and withdraw Nigeria from the abyss. ,” he added.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected an appeal filed by the Dan Orbih faction of the People’s Democratic Party in Edo state.

The court’s five-member panel ruled that Omorie Ogbeide-Ihama’s appeal was incapacitated because it was based on issues that did not arise from the appeals court’s ruling.

In the judgment of Justice Centus Nweze, the court therefore rejected the appeal on the grounds of incompetence.
