Niger’s government sympathizes with citizens about the effects of CBN’s cashless policy, Naira notes
Niger State Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello sympathized with the citizens about the prevailing hardship due to redesigned Naira notes and the cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The governor stated this in a statement issued by the secretary of the state government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, on Thursday in Minna, the state capital, adding that the governor was deeply moved by the attendant impact of the policy that the citizens, especially the scarcity of the Naira notes.
According to the SSG, “the government is aware that the situation has been the most difficult experience in recent days as many Nigerlites have experienced difficulties in going through the process”.
However, Governor Sani Bello implored the people of the state to remain calm as the government would take appropriate measures to improve the situation, the statement said.
Meanwhile, due to the shortage of cash in circulation and lack of the newly designed banknotes, it has led to the closure of rural markets and several shops in the urban cities, causing hardship. The statement assured the citizenry that the state government is working around the clock. to ease the hardship so that normality would resume.
Ahmed Matane revealed that while the government, like most Nigerlites, believes the public faces untold hardship as a result of the policy, it made a passionate appeal to the federal government to find a lasting solution to the problem facing the people face.
