Nigerians are grateful to Tinubu for the eruption of Abeokuta – Group
“Tinubu also saved the nation from going up in flames as a result of the raging public anger that permeated the atmosphere before the sudden 10-day extension”
A northern group under the auspices of Arewa4Asiwaju has said that the outburst of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu on the naira swap, has saved Nigeria from a crisis.
In what it called the “Abeokuta statement,” the group believes it forced the federal government to extend the deadline to February 10.
While the Arewa 4Asiwaju attributed the sudden 10-day extension of the Naira swap to what it called Tinubu’s shrewdness and courage, it said attitude”.
However, it said Nigerians certainly owe a huge debt of gratitude to Tinubu for intervening and risking everything to change the obviously bad situation caused by the initial January 31 deadline.
In a statement from the North Central Coordinator, Aliyu Musa Pass, the group noted that “Whether one wants to believe it or not, it is Tinubu’s courageous acumen that has invariably saved the Nigerian citizen from the agony of the original timeline . instituted by the federal government for the unpopular new currency swap.
“And through that unique action, Tinubu also saved the nation from going up in flames as a result of the raging public anger that permeated the atmosphere before the sudden 10-day extension.
Proving himself to be a great statesman, Tinubu, in his now famous Abeokuta statement, took the courageous and necessary step to warn of the dangers inherent in the new naira policy, timing and deadline.
