Nigerian Governors Meet In Abuja, See Reasons

Governors from the 36 states of Nigeria are currently gathered in Abuja for a crucial meeting under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).

The meeting is taking place at the NGF secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

As of the latest updates, several governors have arrived at the venue, including Lawal Dauda (Zamfara), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), and Alex Otti (Abia).

Additionally, the governors of Enugu and Borno States, Peter Mbah and Babagana Zulum, respectively, have sent their deputies to represent them.

The agenda for the meeting has not been made public, but it is expected that the governors will address several pressing national issues.

In their last meeting, the governors had committed to providing Nigerian workers with a fair minimum wage.

This gathering marks the first public meeting of the NGF since President Bola Tinubu approved a new minimum wage of ₦70,000.

In addition to the minimum wage discussions, the governors are anticipated to deliberate on the ongoing debate surrounding the planned nationwide protest against bad governance.

This protest, gaining traction on social media, is set to be held across all states and the FCT in response to the country’s economic hardships and inflation.
