Newcastle sign Gordon from Everton for £45 million
Newcastle United have finalized the signing of striker Anthony Gordon from Premier League rivals Everton, both clubs reported on Sunday, Reuters reported.
British media reported that Newcastle will pay up to £45 million ($55.8 million) for the 21-year-old, which will bolster their attacking options as they aim for a Champions League spot.
“Since I heard of the interest, I was always convinced that Newcastle was for me,” Gordon told Newcastle’s website.
“I think the fan base and the city really suit me as a person, the way the team is playing under the gaffer at the moment really suits me, and the club just seems to be moving in the right direction.
“I feel like it’s a very big step. People haven’t seen what I’m capable of yet. I think under the gaffer, and the way the club is going, I can really excel here.”
Gordon, who has played for England at Under-21 level, made 65 league appearances for Everton, scoring seven goals.
