The Ogun State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) finds itself in turmoil as Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu’s camp faces an exodus of loyalists and candidates due to what insiders describe as negligence and poor management of relationships with key stakeholders.

Party members have raised concerns about Adebutu’s allies alleged disregard for candidates who invested significant resources in building the party’s structures during past elections.

Multiple sources highlight that the internal crisis began with allegations of manipulated delegate lists during the 2022 and 2024 primary elections, which led to court cases and factional congresses. Adebutu’s camp has also been accused of sidelining dedicated members while favoring a few close allies, resulting in frustrations among candidates who feel unrecognized for their efforts and financial contributions.

Recent reports indicate that these issues have pushed prominent figures within the party to reconsider their allegiance, with some opting to leave entirely. One aggrieved candidate noted, “It is disheartening to see how those close to Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu have prioritized personal gain over the collective good of the party, leaving others who sacrificed their resources feeling betrayed” aggrieved PDP members alleged.

Analysts argue that Adebutu’s inability to foster strong relationships within his camp is damaging the party’s prospects in Ogun State. The PDP has suffered a series of losses in recent elections, and party members attribute this to internal divisions and mismanagement. Without urgent reforms, the PDP risks further weakening its electoral base.

To avoid continued losses, Adebutu’s camp must prioritize rebuilding trust with key stakeholders. Transparent communication, equitable recognition of contributions, and a unified strategy are necessary steps for repairing the fractured party. Without these efforts, the Ogun PDP may continue to suffer defections and electoral defeats.

The future of the party rests on Adebutu’s ability to mend fences and prove himself as a leader capable of rallying his team towards a common goal.

As at the time of filing this report, all tireless efforts to reach Adebutu and Oluwole with their close aides directly were abortive.
