The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers who are terrorizing residents of the Lafia local government area.
State Police Commissioner Maiyaki Baba announced the revelation to journalists at the command headquarters in Lafia on Monday as he paraded 28 suspected criminals arrested in the month of January 2023 for committing various crimes in the 13 LGAs of the state.
He explained that the six suspected kidnappers, who were on the police watch list, were arrested in Kiguna village in Lafia East development area of Lafia LGA after strenuous efforts by officers of the command.
He said: “On January 12, 2023 at approximately 4:50 PM, based on a tip, police officers from Assakio Division raided a hideout of suspected kidnappers in Kiguna Village, Lafia East Development Area, where the following suspects were arrested namely: Adamu Mohammed, 20 years old, Musa Ibrahim aka IBB, 20 years old, Bashiru Anaruwa, 19 years old and Hamisu Tanko, 20 years old, all from Kiguna Village.
“A locally manufactured AK 47 rifle was recovered from the suspects as evidence.

“The suspects have confessed that they are the syndicate that terrorizes the Assakio-Sabon Gida road, where they kidnap people for ransom.”
While warning all criminal elements to flee the state without further delay, the CP appealed to residents of the state to continue to provide the police with useful information that would help them eradicate crime in the state.
“I want to claim that the state command under my leadership will not budge, but will step up its antics to boldly crush criminals until they are subdued,” he added.
