Monarch wants Ogun endorsement of festival

The Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Obalanlege on had pleaded with the Ogun State Government to endorse his kingdom’s Iganmode Festival.

 

The monarch said the festival should be included in the tourism calendar of the state like Ojude Oba, Lisabi day, Orona day, Odun Omo Olowu.

 

Olota stated this at a press briefing on the 2021 edition of the Iganmode Festival billed to hold in December.

 

Iganmode festival is celebrated by the people of Awori clan of Ota in the Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

 

The monarch explained that he wanted the “festival to hold yearly in partnership with the state government. It is a cultural event that will mobilise the whole community and ensure peaceful co-existence.”

The Olota also called on the state government fix the deplorable roads in the community.

 

“To attract tourists in appreciable number, there is the need to develop infrastructure in the state,” he added.

 

In his address, the Chairman, Planning Committee of the 2021 Iganmode Festival, Aare Dele Bankole said participants in the festival would be taken to tourist sites in the community, while also enjoying indigenous food of the land.
