The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) campaign in Sagamu entered its fifth day with an electrifying turnout as Dr. Oyenuga Adeshola Jamiu Jasper, the party’s chairmanship candidate, took center stage. Rallying support across key wards, Dr. Oyenuga’s presence intensified momentum for the PDP campaign, which aims to unseat the current APC leadership in Sagamu Local Government.

The rally progressed from Ward 1 through Wards 14 and 15, with leaders seizing the opportunity to address issues that have sparked local debate, particularly regarding the Falawo Market. PDP leaders strongly criticized the APC’s handling of controversies surrounding the market, directing sharp words at APC’s Sagamu chairmanship candidate, Ogbeni Odulate Afolabi Jubril.

Honourable Abana, a respected PDP figure, did not hold back, delivering a fiery rebuttal aimed at Odulate, calling out what he described as “APC’s failure to show accountability and integrity.” Abana’s comments resonated with many in attendance, as he stressed the PDP’s commitment to addressing local grievances and prioritizing community welfare.

Sagamu LGA PDP Chairman, Deacon Dauda Adeyemi, also joined in the critique, lambasting the APC leadership for failing to moderate Odulate’s controversial statements at Ward 7 in Ijagba, Sagamu. Adeyemi suggested that the APC’s silence on the matter reflects a lack of responsible leadership, asserting that Sagamu needs leaders who will act with dignity and uphold the interests of its people.

Adding a note of decorum to the discourse, Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello, representing Offin, Sagamu 1 Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, emphasized the PDP’s commitment to respectful campaigning. “I won’t engage the APC in dirty politics. We are well-trained in our party, and the Ọmọluwabi spirit in us won’t allow us to respond in kind,” Bello said, reiterating his preference for constructive dialogue over divisive rhetoric.
