Makun High School Alma Mater: MAHSOSA Marks 44th Anniversary With A Generous Donation Of School Supplies To Students

Makun High School Old Students Association (MAHSOSA) has in a remarkable display of solidarity and commitment to education celebrated the 44th anniversary of Makun High School by donating school supplies to the current students. The event, held at the school’s grounds, was a blend of nostalgia, celebration, and future-focused initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education for present and future students.

The anniversary celebration, which usually takes place on September 26th annually, attracted this year with a wide array of alumni, teachers and students. The high point of the day was MAHSOSA’s generous gesture of distributing essential school items. This initiative was designed to ease the financial burden on best students and their families while also motivating them to excel in their academic pursuits.

In his speech, MAHSOSA 2006 chairman, Comrade Bashiru Hammed Adewale popularly known as Prince Lahbash, highlighted the importance of giving back to the institution that shaped the lives of so many alumni. “Makun High School has not only given us an education but also values that have shaped our lives. It is only fitting that we give back to ensure future generations of students receive the same quality of education and support,” he remarked.

The event featured an inspiring keynote address by a distinguished alumna, Mr Sunday that spoke on behalf of the alma Mata of MAHSOSA national body. He spoke on “Building a Legacy: The Role of Alumni in Shaping Future Leaders.” The keynote underscored the critical role that alumni associations play in bridging the gap between past successes and future aspirations.

His speech focused on the challenges and opportunities in Nigeria’s educational landscape. He emphasized the role of collective responsibility in addressing the lack of resources in schools.

Many students expressed their appreciation for the support they received. A Senior Secondary School student, said, “The notebooks and textbooks will help me prepare for my exams. We are so grateful to MAHSOSA for their support.”

Teachers and school administrators were equally appreciative of the gesture, recognizing how it would impact the students’ overall performance. The junior school’s Principal, Mr Oyewusi lauded MAHSOSA’s dedication and encouraged other alumni associations to emulate such efforts. “MAHSOSA has set a high standard. Their dedication to this school is an example for others to follow,” he said.

Makun High School, established in September 26th 1980, has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence and community service. Over the years, the school has produced several notable personalities in various sectors, from education and business to public service. In addition to the donation of school supplies, MAHSOSA 2006 set chairman, Comrade Bashiru Hammed Adewale (Prince Lahbash) also unveiled plans to commission ultra modern toilet project aimed at improving the school’s infrastructure in October. The association (MAHSOSA National) is committed to renovating the school’s science laboratories, Hostel and providing additional learning materials to support the school. These initiatives align with their vision to ensure that Makun High School remains one of the leading secondary schools in Ogun State.

The anniversary celebration not only honored the school’s past but also provided a platform for envisioning a bright future where both current and future students can thrive.
