MAHSOSA Unveils New National Executive Council, CSP Ibrahim Babatunde Emerges As President

In a major leadership overhaul aimed at revitalizing its national structure, the Makun High School Old Students Association (MAHSOSA) has officially announced the appointment of a new set of executives to steer the affairs of the association. The announcement was made during the association’s national congress, which took place on Saturday 28th of June, 2025 at the school premises in Sagamu, Ogun State.
The newly constituted National Executive Council will be led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ibrahim Babatunde, who now assumes office as the National President of MAHSOSA. The leadership transition comes following the dissolution of the previous executives whose tenure was deemed to have extended beyond the constitutional limit.
According to the Chairman of the MAHSOSA Board of Trustees (BoT), Mr. Sunday Oyeyemi, the decision to dissolve the former executives, including the immediate past president Mrs. Adepero Oyelami, was taken after extensive consultations and a unanimous agreement reached at the congress. Mr. Oyeyemi emphasized that the association’s constitution mandates periodic renewal of leadership in order to ensure inclusiveness, innovation, and sustained progress.
The new national officers appointed to serve alongside CSP Babatunde include:
Engr. Musa Ogunnubi – General Secretary
Mrs. Modupe OtinwaModupe Otinwa – Treasurer
Mr. Olabiyi Olayinka – Financial Secretary
Comrade Adewale Hammed Bashiru (Honourable Prince Lahbash) – Public Relations Officer
Delivering a goodwill message, Mr. Kayode Somorin, who served as the pro tem president and was also the former executive secretary of the association, commended the past leadership for their dedication and sacrifices. He urged the incoming executives to uphold the association’s legacy of excellence and selfless service while building on the achievements of their predecessors.
In his acceptance speech, CSP Ibrahim Babatunde expressed deep appreciation to the congress and the Board of Trustees for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to run an inclusive and purpose-driven administration, with particular emphasis on unifying all alumni sets, undertaking impactful capital projects, and strengthening the association’s role in supporting educational development at Makun High School.

“This new administration will focus on fostering unity across all generations of Makun High School alumni. We will prioritize transparency, infrastructural development, and meaningful engagement with stakeholders to enhance the reputation and relevance of our alma mater,” CSP Babatunde assured.
He also appealed to all stakeholders — past leaders, class representatives, and general members — to work in harmony with the new team to actualize the collective aspirations of the association.
Speaking further, the newly appointed Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adewale Hammed Bashiru, popularly addressed as Honourable Prince Lahbash, pledged to use his office to enhance the association’s public image and attract wider participation among members.
“It is a privilege to serve. My goal is to leverage modern communication tools and strategic outreach to reconnect with members across the country and in the diaspora. MAHSOSA deserves visibility, growth, and global relevance,” he noted.
He added that the new leadership would not only work as a team but also support the president’s vision in promoting educational excellence and making Makun High School a model for other institutions.
Members at the congress commended the peaceful transition and expressed optimism that the new leadership would bring a renewed sense of direction to the association. They also charged the executives to uphold the principles of accountability, service, and commitment to the alumni body’s goals.
As the newly appointed team takes on their responsibilities, expectations remain high among members and stakeholders. The leadership is now tasked with consolidating the gains of the past, fostering unity among alumni, and ensuring that Makun High School continues to benefit from the support and goodwill of its past students.
The event was rounded off with a vote of confidence in the Board of Trustees and a resounding pledge from the new executives to serve with integrity, innovation, and passion.
