LG Allocation: Stop Abiodun Now Before He Kills Ogun — PDP Charges Stakeholders
The Ogun State media space was recently thrown into a frenzy again for another embarrassing reason when a serving Local Government Chairman in Ogun State, Hon. ‘Wale Adedayo, also known in the political circle as Babalawo finally decided to heed the patriotic and persistent calls of the gods to speak out and shame the devil as represented here by the outgoing governor of Ogun state, a greedy glutton called Mr. Dapo Abiodun.
In Babalawo’s now famous letter seeking the “fatherly” intervention of a leader of their rudderless All Progressives Congress, APC, and a former governor of the state, Chief Segun Osoba to prevail on Mr. Abiodun to stop further criminal diversion of local government monies to his private vaults.
Just as our ever great party, the ogun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has always believed, the outburst of the Ijebu East Local government “Chief Executive”, a prominent player, a major stakeholder from the government circle has vindicated our party’s position, yet again on the deliberate clampdown on local administration since the controversial inception of APC government in Ogun state.
For the PDP, it is now manifestly evident that Mr. Abiodun has not just rendered local government administration impotent in the state, he has, since inception in 2019, given his unquenchable appetite to steal anything on sight, he has flagrantly violated the constitutional provisions of the federal republic on local government (as amended).
By now, we expect democratic institutions; the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission ICPC, the Economic and Financial Corruption Commission, EFCC, the Department of State Security, DSS and most importantly, the Ogun State House of Assembly to swing into action by conducting a full-scaled investigation into the financial status of LG in Ogun state.
We wish to remind the general public that we have always invited the attention of all discerning minds to the mindless looting of statutory Monthly Federal Allocation and all other financial resources disbursed to the Ogun state by the Former President, General Muhammadu Buhari and all the palliative released to Local Governments during the last pandemic.
Babalawo has just confirmed that more than N10 billion disappeared into Abiodun’s private vaults. What more does the Ogun state House of Assembly need to carry out its constitutional roles of making laws for good governance and promoting the general well-being of the people, if truly it is not an accomplice in this fraud against the good people of the state?
Apparently, if necessary steps are not taken, it is absolutely correct to hold that the much talked about N5 billion, ecological funds and other palliative disturbed to various states to cushion the excruciating pains of the current economic hardship as being packaged by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would follow the same course of criminal looting. Again, the likes of Dapo Abiodun should not be trusted with money! Cats can not be in charge of fried meat’s safety.
While we are extremely disturbed that local government administration which used to be a major hallmark of the era of the state’s full glory between 2003 and 2011, it has now become a complete shadow of its old self; where a thieving chief executive presides over raping of his people.

It is a sad reality to hear and see that since the last charade called the local government election in 2021, it has been ZERO Federal Allocation to each local government. And those who should know like the same Babalawo, Chief Osoba and of course, the State parliament remained criminally silent? The 10% of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, which the Constitution also stipulated should go to the local governments has not been given since Abiodun got into office. Yet, everyone, except us kept quiet!
It is now clear to every citizen of the state why anti-democratic elements such as Mr. Abiodun, in accord with the leadership of the Ogun State House of Assembly and indeed, the leadership of the APC are vehemently against local government autonomy which the good people of the state maximally enjoyed between 2003 and 2011 before the arrival of these rampaging vultures.
In conclusion, we make bold to challenge all relevant stakeholders in Ogun state to continue to call on the State House of Assembly to do its job. We also urge the security agencies, particularly the Police and the DSS to conduct a thorough investigation on local administration in Ogun state.
It is not only harmless voices that are courageous enough to ask questions that must be bullied into silence. We demand concerted efforts to stop Dapo Abiodun before he kills Ogun state beyond this level.
