New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has dismissed reports that he is in talks with People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over any sort of alliance ahead of the February 25 presidential election.

He wondered what the discussion would be about with the party he left long ago, even though he insisted that they only physically saw the PDP presidential candidate at the Arise town hall meeting in Lagos.

He said: “From now until March, we are not going to talk to anyone except after the February 25 election, when there is no clear winner.”

He advises the providers of the report to be honest and consistent with integrity: “When you talk to someone, you say it. If you’re not, say so regardless of other people’s pressure, the NNPP presidential candidate said.

Kwankwaso said the implication of their story on their political fortune was precious: “What they’re doing now is pissing people off.”

He said his discussion at the moment is with the people of Nigeria and the voters in the elections and nothing more.

He said: “Now people have a chance to go out and participate in the elections. The NNPP has provided that opportunity to many Nigerians

“Like now we have good people joining our party all over the country and we are so happy. So the answer is simple.

“We will not enter into discussion with anyone for the time being. No discussion with any party.

“But after the first elections, we will of course talk to people if necessary and that is why we are very careful not to tell lies about a person or people.

“Our campaign is an issue-based campaign and so we were very angry with any party that attacks our personality, our party, because that will certainly negatively affect our discussion with them. If, of course, there was no clear winner in the February 25 elections.

“We now have nothing to lose at the party. I want Nigeria to take note of that, he said.”
