How Afolabi Odulate Emerges In The Sagamu APC Chairmanship Aspirants Screening

Lies repeatedly told unchallenged, becomes the truth and this informed why it is imperative to give detailed account of what played out at the May 17th screening exercise of the Chairmanship Aspirants of our great party, the APC in Sagamu local government. It is also imperative to remind the populace that the screening was designed with the sole aim of pruning down the more than two tens of Aspirants to three, as directed by the State Leadership of the party.

At the inception of the exercise, FOUR ASPIRANTS; Hon Adenowo Aderemi(ward7), Hon Adesola Adesanya(ward10), Hon Gazal Ismail Olasunkanmi(ward11) and Hon Folarin Oluwole(ward8) tendered their handwritten letter of withdrawal from the race, wherein they all declared their support for Ogbeni Afolabi Odulate – AFO of ward-5, Sabo which falls within Constituency1 of Sagamu. The withdrawal of the aforementioned Aspirants reduced the Aspirants to be screened from 11 to 7 Aspirants. We sincerely appreciate the sportsmanship spirit exhibited by these patriotic individuals as their efforts shall never be forgotten in the history of internal democracy of our great party and Sagamu politics at large. We pray God reward them and perfect their future endeavours.

Since the purpose of the exercise was not to arrive at who becomes the party Candidate, but to prune the Aspirants to three and present the three to State Leadership for further screening, the Leaders recommended that the 32 delegates presents should write out their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice among the seven(7) Aspirants since four had already withdrawn and pitched their tents with AFO.

From the results of the 1st Choice as collated, Ogbeni AFO had a clear lead with 16 votes from the 32 votes while Hon Gbenga Banjo emerged the 1st runner up with 8 votes. Ogbeni AFO was neither voted for as 2nd choice nor 3rd choice, as all his 16 votes counted were collated from the 1st choice votes. It was when the 2nd choice and 3rd choice votes were added that other Aspirants had their fair shares in the votes while AFO maintained his 16 1st Choice votes.

The outcome of the exercise has since been accepted and we wouldn’t have considered it necessary to give details of the events if not for the spin Doctors, who have been spamming the social media space with unfounded claims and misrepresentations of fact. Even a elementary student of political science should question how 32 votes was casted to arrive at 24, 16, 12, 11, 9, 7, 7.

As earlier said, the intent of the screening was to prune down the Aspirants to three and we sincerely appreciate the leadership of the party for such wisdom and pray for more in the discharge of their party duties.

The three Aspirants presented are OGBENI AFOLABI ODULATE – AFO, Ogbeni Gbenga Banjo(Baruwa) and Prince Adesanya Temitope Oladunjoye(PATO), and he whom the cap fits, has his full names boldly written in capital letters.
