JUNE 12: “MAJOR GEN. M BUHARI (RETD)’S REPRESSIVE MEASURES WILL NOT DETER US”, GROUP DARE.

WE DARE TO STRUGGLE & DARE TO WIN! JOIN THE #JUNE12PROTEST!!

Press Statement 6th June 2021

Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd) has shown his despicably dictatorial colours to Nigerians and the whole world, once again, over the last few days. First was his series of tweets where he threatened fire and brimstones on the country’s youth who have been driven to desperation and agitation as poverty, insecurity and disillusionment become the order of the day.

Next, after these tweets, steeped in language of state terror and inciting violence were pulled down by Twitter, unabashedly, his regime banned the microblogging site’s operations in the country.

And now, we have learnt that this oppressive regime intends to ban demonstrations, as we mobilise for the #June12Protest, to commemorate the single event that sparked a democratic revolution in 1993, which led to defeat of military dictatorship in 1999 and fight for democracy from below today.

But we will not be deterred. Working-class people and youth marched against repressive colonial laws in the struggle for independence. The pro-democracy movement was not cowered by the military’s jackboots as it led popular struggle in the June 12 revolution.

The regime killed over a hundred people in Lekki, Alausa and across Lagos alone during the #EndSARS revolt last year. A pathologist’s report of at least 98 persons murdered by the police and military in those bloodied days was presented to the Lagos State Panel of Inquiry on 5th June, once again debunking the lies of the regime, showing the blood on its hands.

We call on the world to stand with us against the monster we now fight. But we know, without a doubt, that the task of winning our self-emancipation rests in our hands. We must fight to win #RevolutionNow. We dare to struggle, and we dare to win.

As the Coalition for Revolution (CORE) and its affiliates intensify mobilisation for the #June12Protest, and continue our campaign for #TotalLiberation, we call on all working-class people and youth of Nigeria, to join us and take a stand.

_On the June 12 Protest we stand! For Revolution Now, we stand!! Onward forward to the people’s victory!!!_
