Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has played down rumors of his ambition to contest the Ogun State governorship election in 2027. The Senator, representing Ogun West and serving as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, stated that his immediate priority is fulfilling his campaign promises to his constituents.

Addressing journalists during the annual New Year thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Unity Cathedral in Ilaro, Yayi said, “It is too early to discuss 2027. Right now, my focus is on ensuring that the people of Ogun West reap the dividends of democracy through impactful representation at the Senate.”

The third-term senator, widely regarded as a potential frontrunner in the next governorship race, urged patience, adding, “When the time comes, the future will decide if I stay where I am or move forward.”

Reflecting on the past year, Yayi described 2024 as a “landmark year” for Ogun West, citing several developmental projects and empowerment programs. He assured his constituents of even greater strides in 2025.

“Expect more developmental projects, youth empowerment initiatives, and active contributions to national issues. My representation is centered on building a prosperous Ogun West and supporting the vision of a stronger Nigeria,” he said.

Yayi further reiterated his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, expressing optimism about the nation’s economic recovery. “There is light at the end of the tunnel. With the right policies, Nigerians will soon witness significant economic growth,” he added.

The theme of the thanksgiving service, “Grateful for His Faithfulness,” resonated with Pastor Johnson Olukolatimi of RCCG Ogun Province Seven, who urged attendees to remain grateful for God’s blessings.

As speculations about the 2027 governorship race swirl, Yayi has made it clear that his current focus is delivering on his Senate mandate, leaving future political ambitions for another day. His assurances of progress and a generous gesture to the RCCG have further solidified his position as a leader committed to the growth and development of Ogun West and Ogun State at large.
