Iperu Youths Mourn Alaperu’s Passing, Name Secretariat In His Honor

The Iperu Youth Development Association (IpYDA) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo ODORU V, the Alaperu of Iperu, describing his demise as a monumental loss to the town and Remoland.
In a condolence message signed by its Secretary, Hon. Muyiwa Osularu, and issued on behalf of the association’s leadership under Alhaji Comrade Ganiyu Ahmed, the IpYDA hailed the late monarch’s transformative reign, which spanned 22 years and brought unprecedented development to Iperu Remo.
According to the association, Oba Idowu-Basibo’s leadership ushered in a golden era, with landmark achievements such as the construction of the first-ever befitting Iperu Palace, the establishment of the Agro Cargo International Airport in Iperu, the completion of the Iperu Development Association (IDA) Secretariat, the attraction of a Magistrate Court to Iperu, and the upgrade of the Customary Court to Grade 2 status, among other milestones.
Beyond these infrastructural advancements, IpYDA described the late monarch as a father figure, a symbol of peace, and an exemplary leader whose wisdom and dedication ensured that Iperu remained a model community within Ogun State.

The youth association fondly recalled its historic courtesy visit to Kabiyesi on February 4, 2025, during which he warmly welcomed their vision for the construction of a youth secretariat. In a remarkable show of support, the late monarch approved the use of the Imosan Dump Site land for the project, further demonstrating his commitment to youth empowerment.
As a lasting tribute to his legacy, IpYDA has announced that the secretariat will be renamed “OBA ADELEKE IDOWU-BASIBO YOUTH CENTRE”, with completion scheduled for December 2025. The renaming, according to the association, is a token of gratitude for Kabiyesi’s unwavering support for youth development in Iperu.
The association extended its condolences to the royal families, the Odoru Dynasty, the Oba-in-Council, the Iperu Akesan Development Association, and the entire Iperu community. It also sympathized with the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, commending his consistent dedication to the town’s progress.
IpYDA prayed for the late monarch’s eternal rest, vowing to uphold the values and vision he championed for the development of Iperu Remo.
“Iperu has lost a great king, but his impact will remain indelible,” the statement concluded.
