According to Akinloye Bankole, “the spate of violent killings and general insecurity of lives and properties in Abeokuta, the seat of government and Ogun State in general have become a huge source of worry to our great party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Ogun State chapter, just as it should be to every peace-loving citizen and residents of the State.”

In the press statement released by Akinloye, he claimed that; “insecurity of lives and other criminal activities have been on a steady rise, rearing its ugly head in the last few years across the State.”

“It seems too big for Mr. Dapo Abiodun and All Progressives Congress, APC government to handle the affairs of this State, Akinloye said.

Recalled that last Tuesday, a 12-year old boy identified as John Soyinka who was earlier reported missing was reportedly found dead in a bush around Asero axis in Abeokuta. “It is really sad that while the police and other security agencies are still busy trying to unmask the criminal elements behind these dastard acts, armed robbers struck again on Saturday at the same Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, killing one student while more than ten students sustained various degree of injuries from gunshots including a landlady. This event has reportedly forced the Students body in the school to pass a vote of no confidence on the administration of Mr Dapo Abiodun who some days ago came on a live Channel TV programme, ’Politics Today’ to ’mislead’ the good people of Ogun State that Ogun State is the safety State in Nigeria”, Akinloye said.

Akinloye stated that, there are several other violent incidents that were not properly reported or sweep under the carpet. “It is now evident that Prince Dapo Abiodun’s claim in a section of the media recently that every part of the State is now safe under his watch is just another pathetic lie.”

“While our party, in clear terms, condemns the killings of any citizen, be it civil servants, students and/or any other category of residents, we call on the police and other security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of evil in the State.”

Akinloye stated in the press release that, “in the spirit of curbing the unprecedented wave of crimes, we wish to encourage Mr Abiodun to sincerely assist the security agencies by de-escalating this ugly situation by rededicating himself to the peace, stability and well-being of the State.”

PDP suggested to the government to consider a deliberate partnership with the Community Development Associations, CDAs across the State.
