Insecurity: Obasa Says China’s Military Support Strengthening Nigeria’s Security Efforts

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has commended the military support Nigeria is receiving from China, describing it as a partnership already yielding tangible results in the fight against insecurity.
Obasa made this known at an event held in Lagos to mark the 76th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. He noted that China’s assistance—particularly in local arms production and military training—has significantly contributed to boosting Nigeria’s security architecture.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the lawmaker said Nigeria has continued to reap immense benefits from its long-standing bilateral relationship with China, not only in the area of security but also in critical infrastructure development.
“The upgraded military partnership between the two countries, with China focusing on local arms production and military training as part of efforts to improve security in Nigeria and across Africa, is already bearing fruit,” Obasa stated.

Beyond security, Obasa applauded China’s visible impact on Lagos State’s economic and social development, citing massive investments in roads, bridges, and rail projects that have enhanced connectivity and spurred growth.
“Lagos has witnessed remarkable progress through significant Chinese investments in the development of critical infrastructure, which have enriched our society and transformed our economic landscape,” the Speaker added.
