INSECURITY: NIGERIA IN “ONE CHANCE” UNDER BUHARI, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME – SHEIKH MUYIDEEN BELLO LAMENT

Islamic cleric Sheikh Muhydeen Bello has described the state of insecurity in the country as Nigerians being in “one chance” vehicle, adding that the country is in danger because President Muhammadu Buhari is already tired.

“One chance” is a popular phrase used to describe con artists, ritualists and robbers who deceive unsuspecting commuters to board their vehicles and then harm them midway through the journey.

The nefarious activities of one chance operators over the years has made chance phrase synonymous with fraud, armed robbery, kidnapping and death amongst Nigerians.

One of Mr Buhari’s core campaign promise in 2015 was to tackle insecurity. However, since he assumed office, insecurity has taken a scary trajectory with bandits kidnapping for ransom, Boko Haram advancing their frontiers in North-East and unknown gunmen killing and burning down public facilities in South-East, while killer herdsmen terrorise South-West.

In May, Mr Buhari himself expressed disappointment that despite his regime’s efforts, insecurity has escalated beyond his understanding particularly in the North-West region where bandits are having a field day pillaging communities and abducting enmasse for huge ransoms.

Speaking to journalists in a viral video seen by Peoples Gazette, Mr Bello warned that every Nigeria is in grave danger and “anything can happen anytime.”

“The whole Nigeria is in one chance. What is happening in Maiduguri, have you heard it? Mr Muideen said.

He further said Mr Buhari as the leader of the country has been overwhelmed and tired out by the mammoth insecurity in the country.

“So the whole Nigeria we are in once chance because Buhari as a leader is already tired with what is happening in the country,” Mr Muideen said.

“So I do not need to talk too much about that. All of us we are in danger. Anything can happen anytime.”
