INSECURITY: Bandits Attacked, kill two military officers, abduct one officer at NDA.

Bandits in the early hours of Tuesday morning, stormed Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) located at Afaka, killed two officers and abducted one officer, while another officer sustained injury.

It was not clear whether they went away with cadets but security has been beefed up in Mando as a result of the abduction.

It would be recalled that a few months ago bandits had stormed the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka which is sharing a border with NDA and abducted over 50 students.

Findings gathered that Lt Cdr Wulah and Flt Lt CM Okoronwo were shot dead, while Maj Datong was abducted and Onah sustained gunshot injury and currently receiving treatment in NDA Medical Centre.

A source at the Academy who pleaded for anonymity remarked that the bandits came through the back around 1 a.m. and cut the iron fence and made their way into the Academy.

“This morning as we came to the academy we saw the presence of soldiers at strategic locations and later we found out that two officers were shot dead. One Major was abducted and one sustained injury.”

A combined team of security operatives has now launched a manhunt of the bandits inside the bush including air surveillance with a view to arresting them and rescuing the kidnapped officer.

The Nigerian Defence Academy is located few metres away from the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization Afaka, in Igabi local government area of Kaduna State, where 39 students were abducted by bandits in March.

As at the time of filing the report, there is no official reaction from the Academy or the state government.
