INEC must push for BVAS to save PDP from riggers – Gov Ishaku
Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku on Tuesday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to push for the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to target the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Nigerians rescue from whom he described as electoral fraud.
Ishaku stated this during his speech at the inauguration of the state’s PDP gubernatorial campaign council in Jalingo. He noted that the election of the Osun governorship was an indication that Nigerians desperately need a PDP government to reshape the country for better development and unite the people.
According to the governor, the PDP was out to rescue Nigerians from the untold hardships the APC government has subjected them to, and INEC must play its independent and credible role to save the unity of the country and the PDP from electoral fraud. He also described the tribunal’s verdict against Governor Ademola Adeleke as a miscarriage of justice.
“While I call on all citizens of Taraba to remain free from any form of electoral violence as security would act decisively against anyone caught red-handed, I would like to state here that INEC must push for the use of BVAS to target Nigerians and the PDP of electoral fraudsters.
“The election of the governorship of Osun is a proof and an indication that Nigerians need a PDP government to reshape the country and unite the people for better development. The Tribunal’s verdict against Governor Adeleke is a miscarriage of justice, I call on the Supreme Court to overturn the irritating verdict.
“For us in Taraba, our campaign is going to be a door-to-door campaign and I believe our physical projects would buy people’s consciences to vote for Atiku for president, Agbu for governor and all national and state houses of candidate assemblies. ‘ said Ishaku.
Alhaji Amino Jika, the director general of the council, responded on behalf of the campaign council, assuring that the council would maintain its PDP status of winning in the state, as it has done since 1999.
