INEC conducts fake accreditation in Nasarawa Mach 4

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Nasarawa, Dr Uthman Ajidagba, says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will carry out fake accreditation of voters in the state on Saturday, February 4.

According to him, the mock voter accreditation will be held at 12 polling stations in six local government areas of the state.

He said the affected local government areas included Lafia, Awe, Nassarawa Eggon, Wamba, Karu and Nasarawa.

He said the exercise, which is part of preparations for the 2023 general election, was to test the functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

He urged the eligible voters in the respective polling stations to participate in the bogus accreditation and behave peacefully to achieve success.

Meanwhile, ahead of the general election, the commission provided training to state security agencies.

Dr. Ajidagba pleaded with the security services to adopt new strategies in line with the unfolding trends across the country to ensure peaceful and trouble-free general elections.

He also urged them to see themselves as crucial partners to improve the seamless implementation of the electoral process for lasting peace, good governance and the rule of law.

He pointed out that the success of the 2023 general election largely depends on the role of the security agencies, hence the need for them to be committed and remain apolitical in carrying out their duties during the exercise.
