Imo State: Hon. Uchechi Smart Akandu Commends FG Over Supreme Court Victory On LG Autonomy

Hon. Uchechi Smart Akandu, a political leader from Ezinihitte Mbaise local government, has congratulated the Federal Government and the Tinubu administration on their recent victory at the Supreme Court. The court ruling grants financial autonomy to the 774 local government areas (LGAs) across the country.

Akandu hailed the judgment as a significant milestone in the quest for local government independence. He praised Governor Hope Uzodima for his proactive approach to conducting local government elections, setting Imo State apart from other states in the South East region.

Akandu, a former personal assistant to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, expressed his intention to contest the upcoming local government election in 2024 under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.
