Imeko City Transformation: The Celestial Church of Christ’s Spiritual Hub Takes Shape
The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) is writing a new chapter in its storied history with the rapid progress of the Imeko City Development Project. Dubbed the “Jerusalem of the Celestial Church,” Imeko is being transformed into a global spiritual destination that embodies the church’s mission and heritage.
Founded in 1947 by the late Samuel Bilewu Joseph Oshoffa, the CCC has grown into one of the most prominent Christian denominations in Africa and the diaspora. Known for its deep spiritual focus and unique liturgical practices, the church has always envisioned Imeko as the heartbeat of its global operations—a place of pilgrimage, reflection, and divine connection. This dream is now materializing through relentless dedication and visionary leadership.
The ambitious project is under the stewardship of the Pastor in Council (P.I.C.) Works and Projects Committee, headed by SVMSE Gabriel Oshoffa. Despite initial skepticism and opposition, the committee, supported by CCC faithful worldwide, has achieved significant milestones:
Road Infrastructure: Key roads in Imeko have been tarred, facilitating smooth access to the city.
Drainages and Culverts: Essential flood control measures are under construction, ensuring a sustainable and durable infrastructure.
Imeko Basilica Revamp: The iconic Basilica, a spiritual landmark for the CCC, is undergoing a fresh coat of paint, enhancing its grandeur.
International Conference Centre: Nearing completion, this modern facility will host local and international events, solidifying Imeko’s status as a global spiritual and cultural hub.
The transformation of Imeko has been a collective effort. The committee reached out to parishes locally and internationally, mobilizing resources from Heads of Diocese abroad. His Eminence, Reverend E.M.F. Oshoffa, also provided significant financial backing, ensuring the dream stayed alive.
The perseverance of the P.I.C. Works and Projects Committee has silenced naysayers, turning doubt into awe. As the project progresses, the excitement surrounding the upcoming Imeko Annual Convocation is palpable.
