I’m Fulfilled Putting Smiles On Inmates Face — Lahbash To Ibara Prison Deputy Controller, Oshin Bamidele

The Chairman and founder of an online news platform, The Eaglesforesight, Mr Bashiru Hammed Adewale Olamilekan popularly known as Prince Lahbash, tells how the journey has been for him as a prisoner of conscience at Ibara Correctional Center Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Lahbash came to the prison with Muslim clerics to hold a special prayer session for the reelection of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun. He pleaded to the inmates that the government didn’t forget them, and that Prince Dapo Abiodun has it in plan to do massive release soon.

The inmates restored hope when Lahbash delivered the message to them. One of the inmates who pleaded to remain anonymous mentioned that; Every prayer we make for Dapo Abiodun is in turn going to be at our own goods because he won’t forget us, that’s the reason why we won’t stop putting him in our prayers.

Another inmates also claimed that, “we have learned alot lessons and promised to be a good and law abiding citizen if mercy can be shown to them for release. Many of us is here spending 5, 10, 15, 20 years and above without having a child. The Governor should please remember us as we have now turned a new positive fellows.

Lahbash in his delivery speech to the  inmates, says; “as an accomplished business owner and corporate executive, the journey has been mostly defined by my resilience and focus. At every point, wherever I had worked and in whichever sector, my desire was always to ascend to leadership position. When I started earlier to practice journalism, my desire was to become a partner. When I switched to full time blogging, my desire changed to be the founder of my own team. When I came into the politics, my desire was for my voice to be heard and be part of the decision-making process in government.”

“Every step I have taken has been an eye-opener. It is like peeling the layers of an onion. I keep discovering myself more and more everyday.”

I feel fulfilled for every milestone I have attained. I also believe I still have a lot more to give back to humanity.

I have no regrets to be a prisoner of conscience as a detainee here at Ibara Correctional Center because, with every step I have taken, my skill gets better. It is like being sharpened for higher responsibilities. When I left prison to go into full politics, even though it was daunting, I believed I am ready to take on that responsibility, Lahbash says.

Lahbash leads by officers of the prison to visit and appreciate the Deputy Controller of Ibara Correctional Center in his office. He applauded Mr Oshin Bamidele for using his administrative duties to change the face of the prison. He further mentioned how disciplined Mr Bamidele use to be, that he never want to see inmates in any challenges without rendering every possible assistance to give hope back to prisoners.

Mr Awesu, the Welfare in charge officer of the prison express how happy he was when Lahbash came to fulfill his promise to put smiles on inmates face on Wednesday.

Not every ex inmates has it in mind to remember coming back to the prison to give back to them, but in Lahbash case, I must sincerely appreciate you for this kind gesture, please don’t let it end here, we will still be needing you oftentimes, Awesu said.

It has long be part of me to give back to humanity and that’s one of the reasons I’m venturing into politics, as a philanthropist, I promise to do more whenever the opportunity comes to me to giving back. Lahbash in his response to the prison officers.
