Ijebu-Ife Hosts Rear Admiral Kolawole Olumide Oguntuga In Grand Reception

Ijebu-Ife witnessed an outpouring of pride and celebration on Saturday as the city honoured one of its illustrious sons, Rear Admiral Kolawole Olumide Oguntuga, who rose to a top rank in the Nigerian Navy. The grand reception, held in his hometown, was a gathering of dignitaries, traditional rulers, and political leaders who came together to celebrate his remarkable achievements.
The event was graced by the Governor of Ogun State, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Oyedele-Salako, secretary to the state government, Hon.Tokunbo Talabi, Chief Bisi Akande alongside the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, and notable Ijebu royal fathers.
Other distinguished attendees included Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, former Minister of State for Health, Hon. Damilare Kehinde, Chairman, Ijebu East Local Government, and his Vice, Hon. (Mrs.) Adetutu Oyesanya, Hon. Folorunsho Badejo, Chairman, Ijebu North-East Local Government, Hon. Adetoye, Chairman, Ijebu Waterside, Otunba Akinsanya and many others.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the governor, Deputy Governor Noimot Oyedele-Salako lauded Rear Admiral Oguntuga for his dedication and service to the nation.
“Kolawole Oguntuga has played a vital role in the Nigerian Navy, demonstrating confidence, integrity, and commitment. His journey serves as an inspiration to others, and today, we celebrate his success with great pride.”
The Ajalorun of Ijebu-Ife, Oba Adesesan Oguntayo, the chief host of the occasion, expressed his joy in welcoming guests to the historic event. He described the celebration as a testament to the excellence and determination that define the people of Ijebu-Ife.
“Today, we celebrate a towering achievement-one that no son of Ijebu-Ife has attained before. Rear Admiral Oguntuga’s rise in the Nigerian Navy is not just personal success but a collective pride for our community. His career stands as an inspiration to younger generations, proving that with commitment and perseverance, great heights can be reached.”
In his response, Rear Admiral Oguntuga expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming honour bestowed upon him by his community.

“One thing I observed growing up was the love and recognition the people of Ijebu-Ife showered on my late father. Today, I am grateful to receive the same warmth. This event has left an indelible mark on my heart, and I assure you all that I will continue to cherish and support our community.”
He also praised the Ajalorun, acknowledging his leadership and dedication to the growth of Ijebu-Ife.
Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, in his remarks, described Rear Admiral Oguntuga’s career as a symbol of dedication and service.
The senator said, “Rising through the ranks in the military is no easy feat. It takes resilience, discipline, and a commitment to duty. Today, we give thanks to God for the life and accomplishments of this great son of Ijebu-Ife.”
The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye in his tribute to the celebrant, describing him as a humble and diligent man.
The monarch said, “During my time in the United States as a pastor, I met Kolawole Oguntuga, who served as a dependable protocol officer. Despite his prestigious position in Nigeria, he carried out his duties with humility. Now, as a king, I am honored to celebrate his achievements and wish him continued success.”
