IGP ensures the safety of women and youth
Police Inspector General Usman Baba on Thursday kicked off the Police Community Relations Committee at the National Summit on Raising Women and Youth Awareness on Peaceful, Free and Fair General Elections in 2023 under the theme of “Ensuring a Safe and Secure Atmosphere for Nigerian Women and Youth During Election Process’.
The summit, which dissected the role of voters, particularly women and youth, urged cooperation with Nigeria Police Force personnel and other security agencies involved in electoral security management for robust security before, during and after the elections.
The IGP commended the initiative of PCRC National Chairman Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim and PCRC national executives while urging them to use their platform to improve security at grassroots level while empowering local communities cooperate with the NPF to ensure their safety. and safety and to create a safer environment for everyone.
Similarly, the IGP addressed the previous crop of police officers trained in weapons handling, police tactics and techniques, human rights standards in arrest, detention and search of persons or vehicles, and public order management by the NPF Peacekeeping Agency.
The officers gave a brief demonstration of the contemporary techniques of crowd control and public disorder intervention they have learned in preparation for the general election.
Meanwhile, while reiterating its vision for a police force built on the principles of training and retraining, the IGP urged officers to use their training judiciously with tremendous devotion to duty to ensure that the security management of the 2023 general election is effectively is handled at every level, especially at the base.
