I will ban ‘agbero’ says Lagos LP gov candidate
The gubernatorial candidate of the Lagos State Labor Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, announced on Sunday that he will enthrone a functioning transportation system in Lagos if elected governor in March 11 gubernatorial elections.
He also announced that he would not allow the ‘agbero’ system, which he claimed had created many security risks in the state.
Rhodes-Vivour said this during the Platform debate that was organized in Lagos on Sunday for candidate governors.
“As far as road safety in Lagos state is concerned, we do not accept the ‘Agbero’ system, which has created many safety risks in the state.
“We have to train our road enforcers and we will also have to make sure that the state sets its clear policy not to accept the Agbero system. All of these you can only enforce where a system moves smoothly.
“Our own focus is to ensure that we are back on a system that is running smoothly. We’ll also have digital surveillance all over the state so we can enforce it with evidence, not just rumor.
“So the enforcers who fail to fulfill their responsibilities can actually be held accountable and we can hold them accountable with evidence,” he said.
