Abdulwaheed Odunuga, the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, has refuted rumors on social media that he has pulled out of the contest.

Odunuga, popularly known as ABOO, said in a statement in Lagos on Monday that he was fully in the race to win the seat and provide good leadership to the people of the constituency who placed their trust in him.

The candidate said he was surprised to learn earlier in the day that he had resigned ahead of All Progressives Congress candidate for the same seat, Ms. Kafilat Ogbara.

According to him, such a rumor is untrue and false as he is determined not to disappoint his teeming supporters who bought him the NNPP nomination and expression of interest to represent them in parliament.

“I confidently assure all residents that I have not resigned for anyone in the upcoming election and will not resign for anyone as I am about to win in the election.

“I appeal to the good people of Kosofe Federal Constituency to collect their permanent voter cards and make a statement with their votes.

“If you sell your vote, don’t complain at the end of the day,” said Odunuga, the national vice chair, Joint Action for Good Governance.

He promised that his campaign team would intensify voter mobilization in all corners of Kosofe ahead of the elections.

“Our campaign team’s primary vision remains to change governance and leadership narratives in Kosofe through community-responsive, inclusive and quality representation in parliament,” he said.

Odunuga said the NNPP’s aggressive mobilization and penetration drive had confused the camp of other candidates.

Odunuga condemned the alleged attacks and the continued tearing and destruction of posters, banners and other publicity materials of NNPP candidates in the area and called on his supporters to be calm and peaceful.

He urged the security services to act against various undemocratic actions by thugs to protect democracy.

Odunuga said he was out to defend the area’s commoners in parliament if they were elected.
