I Can’t Change My Pro-People Strategy To Ally With Candidates Who Don’t Have Good Plans For Nigerians—AAC Presidential Candidate, Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) has maintained that he can never change the political strategy he has adopted.

Sowore, while speaking during an interview with Arise TV on Sunday morning, said that his strategy is in the interest of the people and he can never change it to join the bandwagon of other candidates who hold meetings in London, UK and other places against the interest of Nigerians.

Sowore also debunked the perception that his political party, AAC does not have a strong structure like the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He added that he has since 2019 believed in the people as the strongest political structure.

Asked if he is planning to go into an alliance with any of the opposition candidates, Sowore said, “No. I want to correct the impression that our structures are not as strong as that of any candidate. Some of the things we were saying in 2019 have become the sing-song of the new participants now; that the Nigerian political structure that is being touted as structure are structures that were designed for transactions and there are no real political structures that are for the good of the Nigerian people.”

According to him, the structures he has been talking about since 2019 are now evolving on their own, prompted by the desire of the people.

He said that “Many of the structures you and I are talking about on the TV everywhere were the structures that we had built.

“In 2019, I was the only candidate who said that the only thing that can make me go into an alliance is if people subscribe to a revolutionary solution to the Nigerian problem. I was mocked and I walked out of the alliance talk and we went to work, travelled around the country and after the election just ended, it was the same structures that they said we didn’t have that propelled the first #RevolutionNow protest across the country that led to my arrest.

“These same structures stood around in the street everywhere to advocate against police brutality that led to #EndSARS. I will tell you, it never stopped.

“I’m not saying that we should take credit for what happened during all those upheavals, but I will tell you that they stood in the streets and advocated.”

He maintained that the AAC structures will bring revolutionary changes that will bring an end to the misery in the country, adding that the people of Nigerians deserve better.

“It is more important for us to keep our structures clean, compact and effective than to throw out structures that will deceive you into another cul-de-sac for another four years. If you take another four years from us, I can’t even imagine where Nigeria will be,” he said.
