Honourable Damilare Bello Launches ICT Centre To Train Over 500 Students Annually In Sagamu
Sagamu, Ogun State – In a move to promote digital literacy and youth empowerment, Hon. Omooba Damilare Bello Mohammed (DRE), the House of Assembly member representing Sagamu Constituency 1, has officially launched the Omooba DRE ICT Centre. The center, which commenced operations today 3rd of February 2025, is designed to train over 500 students annually, equipping them with essential computer skills to enhance their career prospects.
The facility will run an 8-week intensive training program, accommodating 50 students per session. With multiple sessions held throughout the year, the initiative is set to bridge the digital gap and provide young people in Sagamu with the knowledge needed to thrive in today’s technology-driven world. The training is expected to cover a range of ICT-related skills, including computer literacy, basic programming, and digital applications.
According to Hon. Damilare Bello, the establishment of the ICT Centre is a personal commitment to the educational advancement of Sagamu youths. He emphasized that the project was funded without constituency allocation, with over ₦10 million invested to ensure the best facilities and resources are available for effective learning. This, he said, underscores his dedication to empowering young people beyond legislative duties.
“Our goal is to make our youths more competitive in the job market by equipping them with 21st-century digital skills. This ICT Centre is not just a project; it is a vision to transform lives through technology,” Omooba DRE stated. “We have created a learning environment that will empower participants with relevant computer knowledge, preparing them for future opportunities.”
