Honourable (Omooba) Damilare Bello Mohammed has joined forces with the King Ogunremi Foundation and Kings Barber Connect Nigeria (KBCN) to launch a laudable free haircut initiative in Sagamu. The program is set to provide complimentary haircuts to young individuals while offering economic opportunities to barbers within the local community.

The Eaglesforesight correspondence observed the official unveiling of the initiative which took place at the Damilare Mohammed Bello (DMB) Foundation office, where stakeholders convened to deliberate on the project’s goals and implementation strategy. The initiative, while simple in appearance, is rooted in a broader vision of social intervention—bridging gaps in personal care accessibility for underprivileged youth and supporting small-scale artisans in the grooming industry.

With many families in Sagamu facing economic challenges, routine grooming can become a luxury. The program aims to ease that burden by distributing free haircut vouchers while ensuring participating barbers are financially compensated for their services. This approach not only supports youths in maintaining personal hygiene and confidence but also stimulates micro-businesses within the area.

Hon. Damilare Bello, who represents Sagamu Constituency 1 in the Ogun State House of Assembly and serves as the founder of the DMB Foundation, reaffirmed his commitment to community development during the launch. As part of his contribution to the program’s sustainability, Bello generously announced the release of 500 free haircut vouchers to immediately commence the project. He also pledged an additional 500 vouchers, demonstrating his readiness to back the initiative with both vision and resources.

“This program is not just about haircuts—it’s about hope, dignity, and opportunity,” Hon. Bello remarked. “We are investing in our youth by helping them feel good about themselves, and we are also empowering our local barbers by creating a structure that rewards their craft. The ripple effect this will have in Sagamu cannot be overstated.”

King Ogunremi Foundation, known for its people-centric programs, emphasized the importance of inclusive development through this partnership. Kings Barber Connect Nigeria also highlighted the initiative’s role in elevating standards within the barbering profession while opening doors for barbers to gain recognition and financial stability.

As preparations for the first phase roll out, the coalition of partners is optimistic that the initiative will create a lasting positive impact. It reflects a new model of community service—one that merges social welfare with economic empowerment.

Residents of Sagamu can expect the service to commence soon across various identified centers, bringing not just grooming services, but a renewed sense of community pride and solidarity.
