Hon. Damilare Bello Commissions Landmark Projects in Sagamu Constituency I Amidst Ovation from Speaker, Lawmakers, and Traditional Rulers

The Ogun State House of Assembly (OGHA) member representing Sagamu Constituency I, Hon. Omooba Muhammed Damilare Bello (DRE), on Thursday rolled out another set of impactful constituency projects, further deepening his reputation as one of the most active grassroots-focused lawmakers in the 10th Assembly.
The commissioning ceremony, which held in Sagamu, attracted the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, his deputy, principal officers, and several members of the Assembly, alongside traditional rulers, party stalwarts, and enthusiastic constituents who thronged the venues in large numbers to celebrate the milestone.
Projects Commissioned cut across the 10 wards in Sagamu 1 state constituency, the projects consist of ultra-modern public toilet and boreholes at ilupeju Legunshe market, boreholes at Ayegbami ward 3, Baruwa at ward 8, Ijagba at ward 7, ward 2 at falawo market area, ward 4, 5 and 6 also benefits. Others to be commissioned at ward 9, 1 and 10.
Projects promised to be officially handed over to the public also were:
16 blocks newly constructed market stalls at Ode-Lemo and Ogijo, designed to boost local commerce and provide traders with a conducive environment for business.
A functional health centre in Emuren, fully equipped to enhance primary healthcare delivery for residents of the community.
A pledge to install solar-powered streetlights at Legunshe Market by next month, to improve security and extend business hours for traders.
The projects, according to Hon. Bello, are part of his commitment to ensure that dividends of democracy reach every community within his constituency.
In his goodwill address, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Sagamu, Deacon Dauda Adeyemi, lauded Hon. Bello as a “humble, loyal, and consistent member of the party” who has remained committed to the people even before clinching the Assembly seat. He noted that the projects were a testament to the lawmaker’s passion for service and his determination to uplift Sagamu.
Speaking at the event, Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, described the day as not only historic for Sagamu but also significant for the Assembly as a whole. He took the audience on a trip down memory lane, recalling his personal connection with Sagamu during his years of residence in the town.
Elemide heaped praises on Hon. Bello, whom he referred to as “a chronic and hard-earned supporter,” and described him as one of the most reliable colleagues in the legislature at 10th Assembly despite him belongs to opposition party.

“In the Ogun State House of Assembly, we work as one family beyond party lines. That is why we have achieved so much together in the past two years. PDP members stood by me during my emergence as Speaker, and I remain proud to support them. We are united in purpose, and Hon. Bello is making us proud,” Elemide said.
The Speaker also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for releasing what he described as “an unprecedented level of funding” for constituency projects, noting that the governor has set a new standard by granting lawmakers autonomy in executing development projects in their constituencies.
Answering questions about his political leaning, Speaker Elemide emphasized that “the OGHA is one family without party affiliations when it comes to development.” He stressed that his commitment remains to the people of Ogun State, and if there were to be any political realignments in the future, it would be left to his party to decide.
Dignitaries in Attendance
The high-powered event had in attendance some of the most influential figures in the state’s legislature, including the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Lateefat Ajayi; Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Ademola Adeyinka Adeniran; Minority Leader, Hon. Lukmon Adeleye; Hon. Dickson Awolaja; Hon. Haruna Wahab; Hon. Samusideen Lawal; Hon. Damilola Soneye; Hon. Adebisi Oyedele; Hon. Babatunde Tella; Hon. Olakunle Sobunkanla; Hon. Folawewo Salami; Hon. Sherif Abiodun; Hon. Oluwaseun Adesanya; and Hon. Owode Waliu.
Traditional institutions were also represented, led by HRH Oba Bello, the Legunshe of Ilupeju, who graced the occasion with his chiefs, further affirming the bond between political leadership and traditional rulers in Sagamu’s developmental journey.
For many residents of Sagamu Constituency I, the projects stand as another testament to Hon. Damilare Bello’s people-first leadership style. His interventions in markets, healthcare, and rural electrification are seen as critical steps in improving livelihoods, boosting economic activities, and fostering communal peace.
As applause filled the air, supporters hailed Hon. Bello not only as a lawmaker but also as a community builder whose footprints continue to resonate across the constituency.
