Health Conditions Of Ogun Blogger Detained On The Order Of Gov Dapo Abiodun Deteriorating More After Release — Family Member Cries Out
A source close to Mr Bashiru Hammed Adewale Olamilekan, the Ogun State-based blogger and founder of EaglesForesight who was recently released from detention after being detained for five months by the state’s Department of State Services (DSS), has cried out over his poor health condition.
The source, who asked not to be named, told newsmen that the harsh treatment and conditions Lahbash was subjected to while in incarceration at the Ibara Correctional Centre have left him in a poor state in terms of his health status.
“He needs serious medical attention but unfortunately, he cannot afford going for an ordinary test at the moment,” the source said.
“The incarceration has also prevented him from being financially okay for quite a while.
“While he was still in prison, he was always telling us about the harsh environment inmates were made to live and sleep in. The food they were served was also very poor.
“When he got out, the first thing he told was that his imprisonment was an experience he would never wish on his enemy. He told us he was in a cell that had more than 140 inmates in it.”
When FIJ spoke to Bashiru Hammed Adewale, he said he needed to sell most of his valuable belongings while in prison to take care of his family members.
“I must be sincere and need not to hide anything. When I was in prison, I needed to sell most of my belongings so my family members who are heavily dependent on me would continue to live on something,” Lahbash was quoted as saying.
“The people I thought could be of help while I was in incarceration never really helped me. So, I had to resort to selling of my property to feed my family.
“I am homeless at the moment because my rent expired while I was in prison and I have not been able to renew it. Since my release, I have been squatting with friends.”
Bashiru was first arrested on April 29, for sharing a report which he culled from Peoples Gazette, on Dapo Abiodun, the state governor, titled ‘2023; I Was Arrested (convicted) for Fraud in US, But APC Lacks Power to Disqualify Me — Governor Abiodun Bragged’.
He was rearrested on May 13 and went on to spend close to five months in jail before finally regaining freedom on September 27.
Eaglesforesight can be contacted if anyone is in need to speak with the person of Mr Bashiru Hammed Adewale as he urgently need medical checkups and serious health care attention.
