Great Sagamite,

“We trust this media message meets you well.”

BACKGROUND

“Sagamu Youth Association (SYA) as an association of cerebral constellation of selfless and intentional individuals cutting across the span of Sagamu Local Government which can be substantively tested through the composition of her executive membership; deeply rooted in ethical values, recognizes the significance of understanding and dialogue among other commitments to promoting harmony, grounded in the principles of mutual respect, inclusivity, and cooperation, which guide our actions and decisions.”

“In this media message, SYA aims to clarify its position on harmonisation, the importance of peaceful coexistence in achieving shared goals, with staunch attention to ethical values and best global practices. However, it has come to our attention that there is a rumor circulating regarding the recognition of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) as the sole apex body in Sagamu Local Government.”

IMPORTANCE OF HARMONISATION

Harmony, when achieved through voluntary cooperation and mutual respect, fosters growth and sustainable development. However, it is crucial to distinguish between genuine harmonisation efforts and coercive measures that the fundamental rights and autonomy of individuals or groups are not respected.”

OUR POSITION

“We wish to make it unequivocally clear that our association is not in any way opposed to harmonisation initiatives. On the contrary, we recognise the immense value in aligning diverse perspectives and interests to achieve common goals.”

“We the executives, at SYA, stand resolutely in favour of harmonisation effort, hence the reason we have not for once shun any clarion call to find a lasting solution to youth harmonisation. It is imperative to recall SYA unwavering dedication to consensus-building through various stakeholders which is not limited to past youth leaders, RIDSCo and other respected community partners in progress and we agreed to harmonisation at the following categories:

Related News:

1. Sagamu Youth Association should be maintained because of Sagamu identity while our sister organisation should produce the Leadership;

2. We agreed to National Youth Council of Nigeria while someone from our Association should lead.

“None of the above categories was agreed by the Leadership and Stakeholders of NYCN rather they embarked on campaign of calumny to malign and position our association as the entity frustrating harmonisation efforts.”

“Negative Effects of Coercive Harmonisation”

1.Sagamu Youth Association remain a legal entity and any attempt to force harmonisation (with winner takes all style) will only enjoy temporary breeze:

Whenever there is an enabling environment, the water shall find its route;

2. this singular act will continue to hurt the future of Youth struggle in Sagamu and Ogun State in general as it has not produced the desired unity.

3. The main objectives of harmonisation had been defeated since SYA still exist only that it’s function would be restricted for a time being.

CONCLUSION

“It was observed that the most reversed royal stool in Remo kingdom was calculated augmented into the conversation by the falsehood peddlers and as such, the claim is not true position of Baba Akarigbo as Baba will never stand to void objectivity and scepticism prior pronouncement. Hence, we are debunking the claim to be false on behalf of Baba Akarigbo Oba Babatunde Ajayi (The paramount ruler of Remo Kingdom) . Kabiyesi ó!”

“Finally, our association firmly disassociate from false claims regarding any form of forceful harmonisation that disregards the principles of inclusivity, diversity, and consent. We believe that true harmony can only be achieved through sincere dialogue, concerted focus on building bridges of understanding from archive of resolution and communique dating as far back as two (2) years among various community stakeholders. We believe that by embracing a culture of dialogue, we can forge a path towards sustainable harmony and collective prosperity.”

Kind regards,

SYA Executive Council
