Gunmen kill Miyyetti Allah chairman, three others in Abuja

Gunmen on Thursday attacked and killed the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Adamu Aliyu, in the Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja.

He was reportedly killed alongside four other people near Daku village in Dobi ward of the council on Thursday.

Mohammed Usman, Secretary of MACBAN, while confirming the killing to DAILY POST, said three persons were also abducted.

According to him, three others were injured and were taken to the hospital for medical attention.

He said the late MACBAN chairman, with six others, was retuning from Izom market in Niger State, when he was attacked by gunmen.

“They were retuning from Izom market in Niger state where they went to sell cows, until just one kilometer to Daku village when the bandits suddenly emerged from the bush and opened fire on the truck, killing the MACBAN chairman and four others,” he said.

He gave the names of those killed as Saleh, Aliyu, Muhammadu and Saidu, saying they have been buried according to Islamic rites.

He said security operatives were at the community before the deceased were laid to rest.

Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, also confirmed the incident.

The spokesperson of the FCT police command, DSP Adeh Josephine, did not pick calls for comments.
