Government Bala visits victims as gunmen attack POS operators in Bauchi
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has visited the victims injured in an attack by unknown gunmen suspected of being armed robbers on some POS operators in Katagum, the headquarters of the Zaki LGA of the state Bauchi.
The attack is said to have left people in the area in perpetual fear over the possibility that the gunmen could be outlaws, as the area is a gateway to the states of Kano, Jigawa, and Yobe.
Bala Mohammed was accompanied by heads of state security services, his running mate from the governorship, Mohamed Auwal Jatau and other top officials.
The governor, along with the Emir of Katagum, Dr. Umar Farouk II, while visiting the scene of the incident, assured the affected persons that the government will make an inventory of their losses to support them.
During the visit, Bala Mohammed said that he was at the Emir’s palace along with his entourage and security agents to feel sorry for him and the Emirate about the two ugly explosions and the robbery of POS operators by gangsters.
He said the unfortunate situation has caused a lot of panic, damage and fear among the residents.
According to him, “The shooting incident in the local government of Zaki in the Katagum area, which is the end of the state, we believe was not caused by terrorists, but for economic reasons.”
The governor added that “and that is what we have come here to assure you and the emirate that the state is aware and passionate about security, but please accept our condolences and sympathy as the incidents have caused great distress to the people of Katagum. .”
He stressed that “the Bauchi state government is ready to ensure the safety of life and property in the state and we will also redouble our efforts to ensure that those who are far from the capital receive special attention.”
He went on to say: “I am here with the security commanders to assure you that Bauchi will be safe and secure and we will make sure that we support the security services here more so that they can do their job.”
The governor then visited some patients from the robbery who are currently being treated at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Azare, where he promised to pay their medical bills.
He also felt sorry for the residents of the local government area of Katagum over the dynamite that exploded in the town of Azare, destroying homes and property.
The Emir of Katagum, Umar Farouk praised the governor for identifying with the people of the area at a time of confusion as happened.
The traditional ruler called for the presence of more security agents in the area, given its strategic location that made it far from the seat government.
