A coalition of progressive minds known as THE CITIZENS has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his head on commitment in putting adequate measures to surmount Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.

At a press conference held in Abuja today, the Citizens noted that the chief of staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila is indeed a round peg in a round hole as his diligence to Service delivery, unflinching loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is worthy of Emulation.

The press release read by the Youth Leader of the Citizens, Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel reads in parts:

“Femi Gbajabiamila’s signature projects at the National Assembly are notable of which the New National Assembly Library is one of them. His mentorship ideology to young Nigerians is remarkable as his Legislative mentorship initiative program for Emerging leaders of our dear Nation remains appreciated”, He pointed.

“When we see sponsored publications of calumny on social media against the image and character of Great leaders like Gbajabiamila and other selfless National servant leaders like Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, Olu Tunji-Ojo, the minister of Interior, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, the minister of Regional Development, we feel greatly concerned knowing it is a ploy to distract them and further retard our country’s developmental processes and possible gains”, Godstime conveyed.

“We urge the federal government to consider amending our laws to control cyberbullying and criminal defamation of character through electronic, print and social media channels.

We have it on a very reliable intelligence source that some of the die-hard lieutenants of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as mentioned above have been listed as possible targets for character assassination ahead of the 2027 General elections. Enemies of the Democracy that we enjoy have recruited the likes of Jackson Ude and other serial blackmailers alike to periodically publish incisive stories against ardent promoters and defenders of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In the coming days, we will make our petitions to the IGP available”, he said.

Femi Gbajabiamila was the third to reject National honours award after Chinua Achebe and Prof. Alele Williams. The Citizens BoT members confessed that Femi Gbajabiamila’s advocacy for due process and integrity, notably rejected and resisted all offers to defeat the 3rd term Agenda in 2007.

The establishment of the Regional Development Ministry is quite commendable and the systematic victory over insecurity in our dear country is a testament that Nuhu Ribadu, Bello Matawalle and the service Chiefs are indeed up and doing.

The federal capital territory is wearing a new look in the past one year as the FCT Minister and his team are committed in fulfilling Mr. President’s renewed Hope Agenda.

While thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Local Governments financial Autonomy, we want to sieze this opportunity to call on Mr. President to as a matter of National importance, issue executive orders that will ensure that Local Government funds are used for the development of Nigerian citizens and our localities as this if implemented with genuine fear of God, will further help in alleviating the poverty and hardship problems, Godstime affirmed.

We make bold to propose our readiness as Nigerian Citizens to support Government at all levels to making Nigeria better for us all, he concluded.

Also lending his voice, a former member of the federal house of representatives and member of the board of trustees of THE CITIZENS, Nnanna Rapheal Igbokwe said he and other BoT members and former house of representative members knows the stock in trade of the mercantile agents who are looking for every means to character assasinate Femi Gbajabiamila for turning down all entreaties to frustrate the passage of the 2022 Electoral Act which defined consensus candidate proper.

Other former members of the House of Representatives who are also members of Board of Trustees of the Citizens present at the press conference held today in Abuja are Dr. Ibrahim Olaifa, Hon. Lawal Abubakar and Hon. Matthew Omeghara
