Former Plateau Military Governor, Col. Muhammad Mana, Dies at 70

Former Military Administrator of Plateau State, Colonel Muhammad Mana (rtd.), has passed away.
Mana, who served as Plateau’s Military Administrator between 1993 and 1996 during the regime of late General Sani Abacha, died on Saturday, August 22, 2025, after a brief illness.
His death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from leaders across the country. Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, described Mana’s passing as a “painful loss” not only to his immediate family but also to the people of Plateau State and Nigeria at large.

Governor Mutfwang praised the late administrator for his role in shaping governance during a turbulent political era, noting that his contributions to state development remain part of Plateau’s history.
Born in Adamawa State, Col. Mana had a distinguished military career before his appointment as Plateau’s administrator. He later retired from the Nigerian Army, maintaining a quiet life until his death.
Burial arrangements will be announced by his family in line with Islamic rites.
