Focus On Students Welfarism And Good Governance, Stop Plundering Osun Assests— Students Group Tells Gov Oyetola

The leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students chides the several illegal activities of the Osun State governor, HE Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

It is very disappointing and ridiculous that an outgoing government that is supposed to be focused on handing over the state better that it was when elected have been found propagating actions that are not only detrimental to the state, but would also put the state backward and in a position that is worse than it used to be.

We can’t claim to be unaware that majority or these actions are positioned to make Osun very difficult to govern for the Governor elect in person of Senator Ademola Adeleke due to the loss encountered by the governor during the governorship pools.

It is expected that Governor Gboyega Oyetola should have recovered from the electoral loss and focus on delivering premium governance to the people of Osun State rather then playing unnecessary politics at the expense of the people that he governs.

We can recollect that just recently, the transition committee of Senator Adeleke raised alarm over the state’s assets been plundered by Governor Oyetola which has not been proven to be false.

Also, the state is presently experiencing multiple illegal appointments, violation of due process for awarding of contracts, money laundering through payment of several packages to the local government caretaker committees which are evidently illegal.

We also watched with dismay the charade called election organised by OSSIEC where numerous citizens and residents of Osun State who are of the voting age were disenfranchised.

Mr Governor sir, all these are against the tenets of democracy and good governance, and as an association that is always at the forefront of the rule of law, we call on you to halt all your illegal activities for the sake of Osun people which has a very large percentage of our constituents (students and youths).

NANS won’t for any reason tolerate whatever policy that can jeopardise the future of our constituents as we’ve been given the mandate by Nigerian Students to ensure we defend them at all times.

Signed:
Comrade Ekundina Segun Elvis
Deputy Senate President, NANS National
