FG’s approach to economics unproductive
Oodua Peoples Congress National Coordinator Chief Gani Adams has called on the federal government to solve the security and economic challenges facing the country through pragmatic reforms to save the economy and address forex scarcity.
Adams also said that with the current approach it would be difficult to recover the country’s economy.
The OPC leader, who is also the Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, spoke at an event organized by Olokun Foundation on Friday in Osogbo, Osun State, as part of this year’s Osun-Osogbo Festival.
He noted that the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), appeared from all the clues, too distant to fully comprehend the enormity of the socio-economic challenges plaguing the country.
He said: “It is really difficult to restore the Nigerian economy with the current approach. There is no guarantee that this economic slump can continue beyond next year unless the federal government can start holistic economic reforms.”
Suggesting ways out of the economic crises, Adams said the federal government needs to change the regulatory mechanism to stop the never-ending security plague.
“The federal government must solve security and economic challenges with pragmatic reforms to save the economy and tackle forex scarcity
“The federal government must reduce waste in governance and focus more on economic projects that stimulate the economy and ensure a favorable environment.
“Finally, we can easily rescue the dwindling economy by creating a favorable economic environment for local businesses to thrive,” he concluded.
