FG regrets mass exodus of health workers
The minister of science, technology and innovation, Dr Adeleke Mamora, has said that the mass exodus of medical personnel, especially doctors abroad, must stop.
Mamora stated this when a delegation from the Nigeria Medical Association (MNA) led by its president Dr. Uche Ojinmah paid him a courtesy call at his office in Abuja today.
The minister stated that the government will do everything necessary to turn the tide of the mass exodus of medical personnel, especially doctors in the country.
To this end, Mamora said the government will examine the working conditions of health workers regarding their work tools and pay to encourage health workers, especially doctors, in their profession.
He promised to defend the interests of doctors and health professionals because of their importance to humanity.
He instructed the association to maintain a high level of integrity and conduct, in line with its oath of business.
The minister stated that the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation will always cooperate with the association, in scientific matters and appreciated the association for her visit.
Earlier, the president of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Uche Ojinmah, to congratulate the Minister on his new appointment as the Honorable Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.
He also requested the minister to discuss on her behalf some challenges of the association, such as track record, work tools and compensation, at the Federal Executive Council meeting (FEC).
