Fayemi approves dissolution of boards, drops advisors, others
Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has approved the dissolution of boards and committees in the state effective August 31.
However, this does not include the statutory commissions set forth in Article 197 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.
Fayemi also approved the cessation of the services of special advisers who are not cabinet members, technical advisers, directors-general, coordinators; and other heads of non-ministerial offices from the same date.
This was stated in an August 8 circular addressed to commissioners and other senior officials by state government secretary Foluso Daramola.
The circular entitled ‘Termination of the services of political office holders’ was signed by a permanent secretary, TG Adejumo.
According to the circular, the decision was “in pursuit of efforts to ensure a seamless transition of government and early assimilation of the terminal benefits of political office holders” ahead of the Fayemi government’s mid-October expiration.
“While the foregoing approval will take effect from August 31, 2022, affected officials are advised to turn over all their government property in their possession to the accounting officers or senior career officials of their ministries, departments and agencies,” it added. .
